Every Thursday, all twenty-two interns and the Promotions staff meet to discuss the week's events. These meetings serve not only as an opportunity for all the interns to meet and work together, but it also provides a learning experience for us. Each week we have a guest speaker come in from sales, programming, promotions or another respective team to talk to us about their duties, brainstorm ideas with us and educate us on the station.

Today was out first opportunity to meet as a group with Promotions Coordinator Kristin Kusnik, Promotions Assistants Lauren Pacini and Zack Nechvatal, and the Director of New Media and Marketing, Tom Lisack. This first meeting set the tone for future meetings in the weeks to come. We discussed what events were coming up, who was scheduled to work them and briefly talked about what our responsibilities as interns are at these events. Tom stressed the importance of attendance in these meetings, so that we are all on the same level of understanding what needs to be done for the week. He then described how he became part of the XRT team, what he does for XRT and a little bit about his career. Tom was an intern for a radio station and now plays a major role in the industry for Chicago Radio.

I'm looking forward to learning about XRT, the promotions and marketing teams, getting to known the staff, and what it takes to make it in the music and entertainment industry.
