It's the High Life with Miller Lite. As one of XRT's sponsors for the 93 Days of Summer, Miller lite provides for us the opportunity to promote our station while working with this, " award winning great taste, less filling" beer company. Typically, we promote their product at various events by giving away different merchandise or as our
listeners like to call it, "swag"--such as can koozies, sampler CDs with their logo on it, etc. We also tag-team bar events with them to promote one of our events. Tonight we were at Johnny B's in Brookefield, IL with a Miller representative. There were Miller drink specials and plenty of great prizes to give away. We tested Brookfield's finest and Johnny B himself to see if they knew the Cubs and Sox key player's jersey numbers. If they filled in the correct number, they were entered into a raffle for a roof top party for the Cross Town Classic (one of the biggest sports events for Chicago baseball, next to the World Series of course). After selecting two winners and taking their picture, the night was over.

One of the best things about this internship, is that it allows me to get out there and work on my intra personal communication skills. At most of the events I work, especially tonight, communication is key when working intimate bar events where I am required to talk about our station and the specific event. Talking to listeners, or should I say strangers, about a product and a company provides a great practice for me, to prompt me for the future.
